Celine Triomphe
structured flap shoulder bag with a gold triomphe clasp and an adjustable leather strap
Celine Triomphe at a glance
The Celine Triomphe is a rigid flap built around the house's interlocking double-C clasp and published in three tiers: Mini 11 x 8 x 4 cm, Teen 18.5 x 13.5 x 7 cm and Classique 22 x 16.5 x 7 cm. This page covers the Classique and the 7 cm depth both larger tiers share. The tier was printed as Medium Triomphe Bag until 2022 and as Classique from 2024, on the same reference 187363.

Triomphe Classique measurements in centimetres and inches
The Triomphe is a shallow, rigid flap, so its depth is the figure that decides what the bag is for. The rows below describe the Classique tier, with the two smaller tiers printed in the ladder so the whole range is visible in one place.
| Measurement | Value | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Published width, Classique | 22 cm / 8.7 in | Celine Triomphe size guide, flap records table |
| Published height | 16.5 cm / 6.5 in | Celine Triomphe size guide, flap records table |
| Published depth | 7 cm / 2.8 in | Celine Triomphe size guide, flap records table |
| Strap drop | 44-51 cm / 17.3-20.1 in, adjustable | Celine Triomphe size guide, drop figures |
| Width against the Teen (18.5 cm) | 3.5 cm / 1.4 in wider | difference between the two published widths |
| Height against the Teen (13.5 cm) | 3 cm / 1.2 in taller | difference between the two published heights |
| Depth against the Teen | the same 7 cm | both larger tiers are published at 7 cm deep |
| Width against the Mini (11 cm) | 11 cm / 4.3 in wider | difference between the two published widths |

Celine has printed three measurement records for this tier on the same reference 187363: 22.5 x 16.5 x 7 cm in January 2022, when the product was named Medium Triomphe Bag; 22 x 15.5 x 6 cm in July 2024; and 22 x 16.5 x 7 cm on the September 2025 page, which is the figure this page and our size guide print. Nothing was averaged, and the canvas version of the same tier is printed at 22 x 15.5 x 6 cm. The practical consequence is small - an 18.5 cm body is the Teen and a 22 cm body is the Classique - but if you are matching a listing to a size word, the centimetres are the only reliable signal.
The Classique against the Mini and the Teen
Three tiers carry the Triomphe name, and the difference between the two larger ones is width and height rather than depth. The strap drop is the one figure that changes enough to be visible on the body.
| Tier | Width x height x depth | Strap drop | Documented use | Where it stops |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mini | 11 x 8 x 4 cm / 4.3 x 3.1 x 1.6 in | 45-55 cm, removable and adjustable leather strap | Evening, essentials only | A phone, cardholder and keys with nothing to spare |
| Teen | 18.5 x 13.5 x 7 cm / 7.3 x 5.3 x 2.8 in | 35-50 cm, adjustable | Day to night, everyday carry | No thick item: 7 cm depth rules out a continental wallet lying flat |
| Classique (this page) | 22 x 16.5 x 7 cm / 8.7 x 6.5 x 2.8 in | 44-51 cm, adjustable | More presence, same shallow depth | The same 7 cm limit, with 3.5 cm more width to use |
| Neighbour: Chanel Classic Flap Medium (adjacent model) | 25.5 x 16 x 7.5 cm | 44 cm single chain | Soft flap with a leather-woven chain | A full wallet and a compact fit; no top handles |
| Neighbour: YSL LouLou Small (adjacent model) | 23 x 17 x 9 cm | 30 cm doubled / 56 cm single | Padded quilted flap with a chain | Deeper at 9 cm, so a compact fits beside the phone |
| Neighbour: Dior Lady Dior Medium (adjacent model) | 24 x 20 x 12 cm | top handles, hand carry | Structured cannage-quilted body | Deeper and taller again, and carried by hand rather than on a strap |
Two readings matter here. The first is that the depth does not grow: the Teen and the Classique are both 7 cm deep, so moving up a tier buys width and height rather than room for bulky items. The second is that the strap drop does not run in ladder order: 35-50 cm on the Teen, 44-51 cm on the Classique and 45-55 cm on the removable Mini strap, so the smallest tier reaches furthest down. If you are choosing between the two larger tiers, the honest question is not what fits but how wide you want the bag to look.
Every published size in the Triomphe range
Three sizes: Mini, Teen and Classique. Celine calls the mid-size Teen and keeps Classique for the largest, so a listing that says Small is ambiguous; the Classique tier was itself printed as Medium Triomphe Bag until the 2024 pages renamed the same reference to Classique.
| Size | Width | Height | Depth | What fits | Where the figure comes from |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Triomphe Mini | 11 cm / 4.3 in | 8 cm / 3.1 in | 4 cm / 1.6 in | Evening essentials only: cards, a lipstick and a key — no phone with a case. | celine-triomphe-size-guide |
| Triomphe Teen | 18.5 cm / 7.3 in | 13.5 cm / 5.3 in | 7 cm / 2.8 in | A phone, cardholder, keys and a lipstick — the everyday tier. | celine-triomphe-size-guide |
| Triomphe Classique (Medium) | 22 cm / 8.7 in | 16.5 cm / 6.5 in | 7 cm / 2.8 in | More room than the Teen in width and height, but the same 7 cm depth, so no bulky items. | celine-triomphe-size-guide |
| Classic Box (nearest reference) | 24 cm / 9.4 in | 18 cm / 7.1 in | 7 cm / 2.8 in | Reference point: 2 cm wider than the Classique at the same 7 cm depth. | Model record celine-classic-box |
| Ava (nearest reference) | 23 cm / 9.1 in | 13.5 cm / 5.3 in | 6 cm / 2.4 in | Reference point: the crescent shoulder shape at nearly the same width. | Model record celine-ava |
| Luggage (nearest reference) | 26 cm / 10.2 in | 26 cm / 10.2 in | 14 cm / 5.5 in | Reference point: Celine's structured tote, twice the depth of any Triomphe tier. | Model record celine-luggage |
Every centimetre above is printed in this site’s own records; inch values are the same figures converted at 2.54 cm per inch and rounded to one decimal, so no page carries a second set of inches. Rows marked as reference points are neighbouring models published on this site, not Triomphe tiers — they are here to give the ladder a scale.
The same figures are indexed, with the source page and the date each one was checked, in the Luxury Bag Size Index — the cross-brand table that holds the published centimetre figures for bags, belts and shoes in one place.

Dimensions in cm and inches
Celine publishes three Triomphe tiers on its own pages, and the middle word is not the one most houses use.
The Triomphe Classique is published at 22 x 16.5 x 7 cm, which is 8.7 x 6.5 x 2.8 inches, with a strap adjustable between 44 and 51 cm. The ladder runs Mini 11 x 8 x 4 cm, Teen 18.5 x 13.5 x 7 cm and Classique 22 x 16.5 x 7 cm, so the top tier is 3.5 cm wider than the middle one and exactly the same depth.
That identical depth is the point to hold on to. Going up a tier buys width and height, not room for bulky items, so a rigid sunglasses case or a full continental wallet will not lie flat in either the Teen or the Classique. Celine also prints the top tier as Classique only from 2024 onward, having called the same reference Medium Triomphe Bag until 2022, so a listing that says Medium and one that says Classique describe one bag.
Inch values are the published centimetres converted at 2.54 cm per inch and rounded to one decimal, the same rule the guides use. Rows with no published figure say so.
How to recognise it in a photo
The Triomphe clasp on the front — two interlocking arcs inside a frame — on a one-piece flap and a structured body, with an adjustable strap.
Not this style when: A CC closure is Chanel; a horsebit or a chain ring is not a Celine Triomphe.
A flat head-on photo of a Triomphe is the least useful frame for a size question and the best one for confirming the model, because the clasp and the boxy flap are the identification and the proportions barely change across tiers.
- A single gold clasp formed from two interlocking C shapes inside a rectangular frame, centred on the flap.
- A one-piece flap covering the whole front panel, with the leather running unbroken from the clasp to the edge.
- A rigid, boxy body that keeps a straight silhouette and does not collapse when the bag is set down.
- An adjustable leather strap rather than a chain, which is the detail that separates the flap tiers from the Chain Box and Chain Maillon versions.
- Leather grain visible across the front panel; shiny calfskin, natural calfskin and Triomphe Canvas are all recorded for this family.
- A strap set at its shortest and at its longest, which is where the tier usually gives itself away: 44-51 cm on the Classique against 35-50 cm on the Teen and 45-55 cm on the Mini.
- The reference code on the tag or the catalogue line, because 187363BFN.04LU identifies the Classique while 188423BF4.38NO identifies the Teen regardless of what the listing calls them.
- A tape across the width, because a head-on photo of a rigid rectangular flap carries no scale reference: 22 cm is the Classique and 18.5 cm is the Teen.
- The open bag, because one main compartment points to the Mini while three compartments with a zipped pocket points to the Teen or the Classique.
What the 7 cm depth actually allows
Depth is the constraint on this model. Both the Teen and the Classique are 7 cm deep, so neither takes a thick item, and the difference between the tiers is width and height rather than packing volume.
A phone, a cardholder, keys and a lipstick fit at the Teen tier, which is the set the Celine guide lists. The Classique adds width and height around the same load rather than adding capacity for larger objects, and the Mini at 11 x 8 x 4 cm takes cards, a lipstick and a key and nothing more.
The strap figures decide how each tier carries: the Mini has a removable and adjustable strap running from 45 to 55 cm, the Teen adjusts between 35 and 50 cm, and the Classique between 44 and 51 cm. So the largest tier is not the one that hangs lowest - the Mini is.
- A phone, which fits from the Teen upward, including a large phone in the Teen's documented load.
- A slim card holder rather than a full continental wallet, because the 7 cm gusset is the limit the published figures describe.
- Keys, a lipstick and a compact pair of earbuds, which together make up a realistic everyday load at the Teen tier.
- A larger card case or a slim pouch, which is what the Classique's extra 3.5 cm of width buys you over the Teen.
- Not a rigid sunglasses case lying flat, at either of the two larger tiers.
- Not a notebook and a wallet together, at the Classique's height and depth.
- Not a phone plus a wallet plus keys in the Mini, whose own description is hand, shoulder and cross-body carry at 4 cm of depth.
The list is read from the published tier figures and from Celine's own compartment descriptions, not from an inside measurement of a specific bag. Because the body is rigid the outside figures are a close guide, but treat the list as an estimate for the size and confirm anything thick with a photo of the piece.
Capacity notes follow the tier notes in this site's Triomphe guide, which records the compartment count per tier and the shared 7 cm depth.
How it compares with the next size up
The Teen and Classique are the two tiers this site publishes side by side, 3.5 cm apart in width.
Down a tier, the Teen at 18.5 x 13.5 x 7 cm gives up 3.5 cm of width and 3 cm of height with the same depth, so the two answer the same question about bulky items and a different one about how much flat material fits. Up from the Classique, Celine's Classic Box is published at 24 x 18 x 7 cm - 2 cm wider at the same depth.
The Mini at 11 x 8 x 4 cm is a different kind of bag rather than a smaller version: at 4 cm of depth it takes cards and a lipstick, and its 55 cm maximum strap drop is longer than the Classique's, which is why it is the tier sold for evening wear.
Compared values are the published outside measurements listed in the ladder table above.
Leather, colour and hardware on record
The Triomphe is built in calfskin or in the house's Triomphe Canvas, and the finish is the visible variable: a smooth surface shows grain, light and marks differently from a laminated or natural one.
- Leather
- Shiny calfskin, natural calfskin and Triomphe Canvas with calfskin trim are all recorded for this line, and the Mini is printed at two different sizes depending on the finish. The leathers are firm enough to hold the boxy shape, which is what keeps the flap sitting flat over the clasp over time.
- Colour
- The colour of the leather is what carries this design, because the front panel is otherwise unbroken apart from the clasp. A photo taken under warm indoor light shifts the appearance of a pale or a deep tone, so compare two frames before judging a shade.
- Hardware
- Celine's pages write the finish as gold finishing on some records and gold metal hardware on others, and both describe the same gold tone. On a single-clasp design the tone is the only metal the eye reads, so it is worth confirming against the leather in daylight.
- Clasp and house motif
- The clasp is the piece of house history carried on this bag: two independent sources record that founder Celine Vipiana created the interlocking C linked to the chain encircling the Arc de Triomphe in 1973, and that the Triomphe bag itself arrived with the Spring/Summer 2019 collection. The same clasp sits on all three tiers, which is why it identifies the model but never the tier.

Triomphe questions buyers send before choosing a size
Is the 22 cm Triomphe the Classique or the Large?
It is the Classique in the three-tier naming used here, alongside a Mini at 11 cm and a Teen at 18.5 cm. The tier was called Medium Triomphe Bag on Celine's own pages until 2022, and the Large tier that existed in 2021 was a separate 24.5 x 18.5 x 7.5 cm body that is no longer listed.
Why is a Triomphe called Teen rather than Small?
It is a naming convention rather than a description: Celine uses Classique and Teen for the flap tiers. There is no Triomphe flap called Small, so a listing labelled Triomphe Small has to be matched by measurement - 11 cm is the Mini, 18.5 cm is the Teen and 22 cm is the Classique.
Does the Classique hold more than the Teen in practice?
It holds wider items, not thicker ones. Both bodies are 7 cm deep, so the Classique's extra 3.5 cm of width and 3 cm of height help with a larger card case or a slim pouch, while a thick wallet or a rigid sunglasses case still will not lie flat in either.
Can a photo confirm which Triomphe tier a listing is?
No. The clasp and the flap proportions barely change from the 11 cm Mini to the 22 cm Classique, so a head-on frame carries no scale. The useful frames are a tape across the width, a shot of the strap at both settings, and a photo of the open bag, because the compartment count differs between the Mini and the two larger tiers.
What strap drop should I expect on each Triomphe tier?
The Mini carries a removable and adjustable strap with a minimum drop of 45 cm and a maximum of 55 cm, the Teen adjusts between 35 cm and 50 cm, and the Classique adjusts between 44 cm and 51 cm. All three are leather straps rather than chains, and the smallest tier is the one that hangs lowest.
How does the Triomphe compare with a Chanel or YSL flap at the same size?
It is the flattest of the three. The Triomphe Classique is 7 cm deep, the Chanel Classic Flap Medium is 7.5 cm and the YSL LouLou Small is 9 cm, so the deeper bags take a compact beside the phone where the Triomphe does not. Each of those comparisons is on a model reference page linked below.
