Dior Lady Dior
structured top-handle bag with cannage quilting and D.I.O.R. letter charms
Lady Dior medium tier in short
The Lady Dior in the medium tier is published at 24 x 20 x 12 cm: a structured, leather-lined body with cannage quilting, two rolled top handles and the four D.I.O.R. letter charms. Our size guide records it as the tier that takes a phone, a wallet, a makeup pouch and a small tablet, and pairs it with frames from 170 cm upward, with the Small as the daily alternative below that height.

Lady Dior medium measurements in centimetres and inches
The Lady Dior is a rigid body, so its published dimensions describe the bag as it stands rather than as it hangs. This page covers the medium tier, which our guide prints as 24 x 20 x 12 cm and which sits between the Small at 20 cm wide and the Large at 30 cm wide.

Sources differ by one centimetre on the depth of this tier: our size guide prints 24 x 20 x 12 cm, and one published measurement page lists 24 x 20 x 11 cm for the same bag. Our guide and this page follow 12 cm, and the difference is the usual gap between measuring the panel before assembly and measuring the finished gusset. Width and height agree across both records, so the two figures that decide how the bag reads on the body are not in dispute.
The medium Lady Dior against the other tiers and the D-Joy line
The classic Lady Dior runs five tiers, and the D-Joy line adds four more in a horizontal silhouette. The table keeps both families visible because they share the cannage quilting and the charms but carry very differently.
| Tier | Measurements as published | Carry style | Documented load |
|---|---|---|---|
| Micro | 16.5 x 8.5 x 15 cm | Hand, evening | Cardholder, lipstick, keys |
| Mini (three-grid) | 17 x 7 x 15 cm | Hand, evening | Phone, cardholder, keys, small cosmetics |
| Small (four-grid) | 20 x 17 x 8 cm | Hand | Phone, wallet, keys, sunglasses, compact |
| Medium (five-grid, this page) | 24 x 20 x 12 cm | Hand | Phone, wallet, makeup pouch, small tablet |
| Large (seven-grid) | 30 x 25 x 16 cm | Hand | Phone, full wallet, documents, travel essentials |
| D-Joy Mini (adjacent line) | 19 x 10.5 x 5.5 cm | Hand, shoulder or crossbody with two straps | Large phone, cardholder, lipstick |
| D-Joy Small (adjacent line) | 22 x 6 x 12 cm | Hand, shoulder or crossbody | Phone, wallet, sunglasses, keys |
| D-Joy Medium (adjacent line) | 26 x 18 x 7 cm | Hand, shoulder or crossbody | Phone, wallet, makeup, small notebook |
Two readings of this table matter. First, the classic tiers are hand-carry bags: our guide describes the classic Lady Dior as vertical and boxy and records the chain-and-leather strap combination on the D-Joy line rather than on the classic body. Second, depth separates the families more than width does - the medium classic body is 12 cm deep, while the D-Joy Small is 22 cm wide and only 6 cm deep, which is why the D-Joy Mini takes a large phone that the classic Mini cannot.
Every published size in the Lady Dior range
Dior publishes the Lady Dior as Micro, Mini, Small, Medium and Large; the depth figures in the smaller tiers are the height of the body on a flat bag, which is why they read larger than the width.
| Size | Width | Height | Depth | What fits | Where the figure comes from |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|

Every centimetre above is printed in this site’s own records; inch values are the same figures converted at 2.54 cm per inch and rounded to one decimal, so no page carries a second set of inches. Rows marked as reference points are neighbouring models published on this site, not Lady Dior tiers — they are here to give the ladder a scale.
The same figures are indexed, with the source page and the date each one was checked, in the Luxury Bag Size Index — the cross-brand table that holds the published centimetre figures for bags, belts and shoes in one place.

Dimensions in cm and inches
Dior publishes the Lady Dior in five tiers, and the guide this site keeps prints the smaller tiers with their height in a different column.
The Lady Dior Medium is published at 24 x 20 x 12 cm, which is 9.4 x 7.9 x 4.7 inches. The five-tier ladder reads Micro, Mini, Small, Medium and Large, and the Medium sits one tier below the top: the Small is published at 20 x 17 x 8 cm and the Large at 30 x 25 x 16 cm.
One caveat on this model: the in-site guide prints the Micro and Mini rows with the height in the third position rather than the depth, while the Small, Medium and Large rows put depth third. The ladder table above therefore reads every row as width x height x depth — Micro 16.5 x 15 x 8.5 cm and Mini 17 x 15 x 7 cm — and the discrepancy is recorded rather than smoothed over.
Inch values are the published centimetres converted at 2.54 cm per inch and rounded to one decimal, the same rule the guides use. Rows with no published figure say so.
How to recognise it in a photo
Cannage quilting across the body, two arched top handles and D.I.O.R. letter charms hanging at the front.
Not this style when: A single slanted flap with a metal D ring is a Saddle.
The Lady Dior is one of the few bags on this site that a photo identifies confidently, because the construction details are large, metal and in front of the camera. Size is the part a photo cannot carry.
- Cannage quilting in a regular square grid across the front panel, aligned with the flap edge rather than running off it.
- Four metal letters spelling D.I.O.R. suspended from the front handle, each one a separate shaped charm rather than an embossed word.
- Two arched top handles, rolled rather than folded flat, sitting at the same height.
- A rigid, upright body that keeps its shape when it is set down empty, and an interior finished in leather rather than textile on the tiers our guide describes.
- A flap that closes over the front panel with the charms hanging clear of the quilting once the bag is shut.
- A five-grid front panel if you are checking whether the piece is this tier: the guide records the grid shorthand as three-grid for the Mini, four-grid for the Small, five-grid for the Medium and seven-grid for the Large.
- A tape across the widest point: 20 cm is the Small and 24 cm is this tier, and the two are hard to separate otherwise because the proportions barely change.
- A frame with the bag held against the body, since the medium tier is a hand-carry bag and reads quite differently on a short frame than on a tall one.
What fits in a 24 cm Lady Dior
The medium tier is where the Lady Dior stops being an occasion bag. Our guide lists four items for this size, and the depth rather than the width is what makes the difference to the tiers below.
A phone, a wallet, a makeup pouch and a small tablet fit together at the Medium tier, which is the set the Dior guide lists. That is a meaningful step from the Small at 20 x 17 x 8 cm, where a phone, a wallet, keys, sunglasses and a compact fill the bag.
The 12 cm depth is what makes the Medium the working tier of the family: the Large at 30 x 25 x 16 cm takes documents and travel essentials, and the Medium takes everything a day needs without the bag reading as a tote.
- A phone, which fits at every tier from the Mini upward.
- A wallet, listed for this tier where the Mini and Micro are recorded with a cardholder.
- A makeup pouch, which is the load that separates the Small from the Medium in the guide's table.
- A small tablet, the last item listed for this size and the reason buyers choose it over the Small.
- Documents and travel essentials at the Large end of the family, which the guide lists for 30 cm rather than 24 cm.
- Not a laptop, at any tier in the classic line.
- Not a shoulder-carried load: the classic tiers are hand carry, and the D-Joy line is where the brand's own strap arrangement sits.
The items above are read from the published tier table in our Dior Lady bag size guide, not measured inside a specific bag. Because the body is rigid, capacity follows the gusset closely, but treat the list as an estimate for the size and confirm anything bulky with a photo of the piece itself.
Capacity notes follow the item column in this site’s Lady Dior guide: the Medium is listed as taking a phone, wallet, makeup pouch and small tablet.
How it compares with the next size up
The Small and Large tiers bracket the Medium in the published five-tier ladder, and D-Joy runs alongside it.
Down a tier, the Small at 20 x 17 x 8 cm gives up 4 cm of width and 4 cm of depth, which is the difference between a structured day bag and an evening one. Up a tier, the Large at 30 x 25 x 16 cm adds 6 cm of width, 5 cm of height and 4 cm of depth and is the tier Dior publishes for documents.
The D-Joy Medium at 26 x 18 x 7 cm is the near neighbour in another Dior line: 2 cm wider than the Lady Dior Medium but 5 cm shallower, so the two answer different questions — one is a structured top-handle bag with real depth, the other a flat elongated flap.
Compared values are the published outside measurements listed in the ladder table above.
Leather, colour and hardware options on record
The Lady Dior is offered in a small number of leather families, and the guide's advice is straightforward: the choice is about how much wear the bag will see rather than about the shape.
- Lambskin
- Softer, lighter and more tactile, and the finish most associated with the classic look. It scratches and scuffs more easily, which is why the guide suggests it for special occasions or for buyers who accept that a soft surface shows handling.
- Calfskin and patent calfskin
- Recorded for this style and described in the guide as the more durable and structured option. It holds the boxy shape of the body and suits daily use, and it is the safer choice for a first Lady Dior.
- Colour
- The core colourways sit alongside seasonal capsules; the guide documents a Dove Tulip capsule with hand-beaded embroidery, where each piece is placed by hand and the motifs are not identical across pieces. Colour and motif are the two details worth confirming on the specific bag.
- Hardware
- Gold and silver are the tones recorded for this style. The four letter charms are the metal element the eye reads first, so the tone is worth checking against the leather in a daylight photo.
- Craft detail
- Our guide records each bag as assembled from roughly 140 leather pieces with about eight hours of atelier work, and traces the cannage quilting to the cane-backed chairs in the 1947 salon. That construction is what keeps the body upright over time, and it is also why the tier differences are measured in a few centimetres rather than in shape.

Lady Dior questions we are asked about this tier
How do I know if a Lady Dior is the medium tier?
By measurement and by the front panel. The medium body is 24 x 20 x 12 cm across the base, and the guide's shorthand records it as the five-grid size, between the four-grid Small at 20 cm and the seven-grid Large at 30 cm. A photo alone will not settle it because the proportions are nearly identical.
What is the difference between the medium Lady Dior and the D-Joy?
Orientation and carry. The classic Lady Dior is vertical and boxy and is carried by two top handles, while the D-Joy is a horizontal, slimmer variant introduced in 2022 that comes with a removable chain strap and an adjustable leather strap. Both keep the cannage quilting and the D.I.O.R. charms.
Will a tablet fit in the 24 cm Lady Dior?
Our guide lists a small tablet for this tier and stops there; a full-size tablet or a laptop is not recorded at any classic size below the Large. At 12 cm deep the gusset is the limit, so a small tablet in a soft sleeve is the realistic version of that load.
Does the medium Lady Dior come with a shoulder strap?
The classic build on our records is a hand-carry bag with two rolled top handles, and the guide describes the chain-and-leather strap combination under the D-Joy line instead. If a shoulder strap matters to you, compare the D-Joy sizes on the same page.
Which height does this tier suit?
The guide's height table puts the Small and Medium from 170 cm upward and recommends the Mini, Small and D-Joy Mini between 155 cm and 170 cm. On shorter frames the 24 cm body reads as a hand bag rather than an everyday carry, which is why the Small is the daily suggestion below that band.
How much bigger is the medium than the small Lady Dior?
Four centimetres wider, three centimetres taller and four centimetres deeper: 24 x 20 x 12 cm against 20 x 17 x 8 cm. The depth difference is the one you notice, because it is what moves a makeup pouch from a tight fit to a comfortable one.
Which leather should I choose for a first Lady Dior?
The guide's answer is calfskin for daily use, because it is more durable and structured, and lambskin for occasions, because it is softer with a richer surface. That advice is about wear rather than appearance, and it applies to every tier including this one.
